Washington Quarter 1776-1976 Mintmark D Grade VF Copper-Nickel Coin - Originally issued for the 200th anniversary of Washington's birthday, this sandwich US quarter was issued from 1964 to present with several changes over the years. Until 1964 the twenty five cents coin was made with 90% silver. After that it was made of 75% copper and 25% nickel bonded to a pure copper core. The mintmark is found to the right of Washington's braid on issues beginning in 1968. Coin collectors love to collect every year of this quarter dollar coin.
