New Zealand Buddy Bears 1998 Coca-Cola Bean Bags - Burger King in New Zealand ran a promotion in mid-1998 offering two pairs of Buddy Bears for sale. With the purchase of a combo meal (Coke, hamburger and fries totaling $12 NZ), the customer could choose between four editions of Buddy Bears. The red set was released first. One Polar Bear comes dressed in a red fabric vest having black knotted buttons and "Enjoy Coca-Cola" printed on it. The other, essentially the same as the Hungry Jacks polar bear, comes with a red scarf having black fringe and "Enjoy Coca-Cola".

The plaid set followed next with one polar bear having a plaid bow in her hair and flat red Coca-Cola button on the left side of her chest. The other has a plaid bowtie with ribbon around his neck. This pair has been mistakenly bought as the more valuable Village Cinema bears because collectors did not know the difference.
