10 Cent US Coins - Dimes
10 Cent US Coins - Dimes Collecting US coins is fun! Originally called ten cent pieces, dimes have been produced since 1796 in a variety of precious metals and mintage images. Interestingly, the Mercury dime contains no mercury and does not depict the Greek messenger god, but rather Liberty with wings spread so it is also called the Winged Liberty Head dime. Collecting dimes is popular because of the variety still available for reasonable prices. US dimes issued over the years include:
Barber Dimes 1892-1916
Mercury Dimes 1916-1945 (Winged Liberty Dime)
Roosevelt Dimes 1946 - present
