50 Cent US Coins - Half Dollars
Collecting US coins is fun! Originally
called half dollar or halves, the 50 cent coin has been produced
since 1794 in a variety of precious metals and mintage images.
Half dollar coin collecting became very popular when the precious
metal in the American fifty cents coin was changed from silver
to silver clad in 1964 and old coins became highly collectible.
As their bullion value rose dramatically, so did the pursuit of
old coins of silver half dollars with higher silver content. US
half dollars issued over the years include:
Barber Half Dollars 1892-1915
Walking Liberty Half Dollars 1916-1947
Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963
Kennedy
Half Dollars 1964 to present
