5 Cent US Coins - Nickels
Collecting US coins is fun! Originally
called half dimes or small cents, five cent coins or nickels are
very popular collectible coins, especially with new numismatists
(coin collectors)! It is relatively easy to assemble a nickel
coin collection by date and mint marks as old nickels are inexpensive
and plentiful. US nickels issued over the years include:
Liberty Head Nickels (V Nickel) 1883-1913
Indian Head (Buffalo Nickels) 1913-1938
Jefferson Nickels 1938 to present (also called
Thomas Jefferson nickel)

Indian Head Buffalo Nickel 1929 No Mintmark Grade G - Indian Head Nickels, or Buffalo Nickels as they are more commonly called, are some of the most popular collectible coins for kids and beginning coin collectors. Issued from 1913 to 1938 (except for 1922, 1932, 1933), these five cent coins were designed by James Fraser in accordance with the wishes of President Theodore Roosevelt to create more American themes on coins. F for Fraser appears just below the date which was easily obliterated through extensive circulation as it was higher than the edge. Buffalo nickel value is determined by the ability to read a date on the front and the condition of the buffalo's tail and horn on the reverse. Even 5 cent coins with unreadable dates are considered collectible. The mintmark is on the reverse of this US coin below the words five cents. This nickel coin contains 75% copper and 25% nickel. This circulated Buffalo nickel is graded G for Good. For more information on coin grading and Indian Head Buffalo Nickels please visit our website http://www.4collectiblecoins.com
